One in three teens in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner.
Independence House is calling all TEEN ARTISTS to take part in the 3rd Annual Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Art Contest. Participation in the contest encourages students to take a stand against violence and promote respect. Students are challenged to submit work that portrays their ideas artistically and emits inspiration from the following pledge:
“We are the Change. We are the ones that will usher in a new era of consent-driven thinking. We are the ones that will re-frame society’s thoughts around healthy relationships. We are the ones that will redefine what respect is. We are the ones who will transform social norms and reinvent society’s ideas.”
Submissions must be original artwork in any medium including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, collage, writing, sculpture, or performance pieces.
Entry deadline: January 31, 2018. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at a community event held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Hyannis on February 15, 2018 at 6:00pm.
