Once you have completed the intake process, a counselor will be available to meet with you as often as you’d like. This can be weekly, bi-weekly, or as frequently as you need. Counselors are available to meet at Independence House office locations, schools, or community agencies (like shelters or group homes). Counseling sessions last 45 minutes to an hour and are based on your individual goals. Counselors can share resources, answer your questions, and collaborate with you to help you find tools to address your needs.
What you share during counseling will not be written down. Everything you share is confidential (with the exception of mandated reporting). Your counselor can review with you the mandated reporting process if you have questions.
Counseling will be available to you as long as you need it. You can come for a month, you can come for 3 months; it’s all based upon you. When you feel like you’re in a place where you don’t need us anymore we will talk about it as a team. We’re here for you as long as you need. If you want additional services we will help you get connected to them.
