TEEN DATING VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH ART CONTEST

Last night we hosted our celebration of all of the students who entered in our Art Contest supporting for Teen Dating Violence Awareness month.  The evening included a display of all of the entered artwork, a speech by professor Robin Robinson, who has done much research on the subject of teen dating violence, as well as a genuine and commanding speech by the MVP president of one of our local high schools.

The entries were combinations of artistic styles, including poetry, graphic design, mixed media, drawing, painting, singing, & story writing.  Several of the contest participants and student speakers were interviewed by the Cape Cod Times, (read the full article here).

February is almost over, but our awareness and recognition that teen dating violence exists doesn’t have to end.  This is an issue that’s happening in high schools on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, and all over the United States.  Sometimes, it’s even starting as young as middle school.  Stand up and speak out.  Or even better, if someone comes to you with their story, listen.
